The Hollywood Bowl – picnic spots don’t come much more prestigious than this. Enjoying a pre-concert nibble is all part of the Hollywood Bowl experience. There are plenty of picnic areas to choose from dotted around the grounds surrounding the Hollywood Bowl with many opening up as much as four hours before the concerts are due to start giving you plenty of time to sit back and break out the sandwiches.

The Grand Park – is a truly grand place for a picnic and no mistake. The Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles stretches all the way from the Music Center at Grand Avenue to City Hall on Spring Street which all add up to around 12 acres of park just perfect for picnicking. There are four very distinct areas in the park where you can sit back and enjoy your own picnic or buy some food and drinks on-site for those who didn’t get organized enough or couldn’t find their cooler.

Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery – the idea of sitting in a cemetery may not be that appealing to some picnickers but bear with me – since its launch in 2002 Cinespia has become a must visit location showing classic movies from the 30’s right up to the 90’s in a wonderful open air historic location. Picture the scene, sitting back on your picnic blanket enjoying drinks and dinner whilst watching one of your favorite all time movies. Life doesn’t get much better than that now does it?

LA Zoo and Botanical Gardens – the LA Zoo is set within the beautiful Griffith Park and guests are more than welcome to come along and bring their picnics with them. The zoo does provide a choice of picnic areas but be warned; they are on a first come first served basis which has proven to be very popular. Take your cooler or your picnic hamper but leave glassware and aluminum cans at home – the zoo management are very concerned about breakable items accidentally finding their way into some of the animal enclosures and causing harm.

The Getty Center – more than 1.3 million visitors make the journey to this popular museum every year to its location perched atop a hill in fashionable Brentwood where they marvel at the artwork, architecture, spectacular views and picnic opportunities. The picnic area opens daily until a half hour before closing time for the museum – picnic tables and manicured lawns can be found in the beautiful Central Garden . . . a truly splendid location to enjoy a spot of lunch.
